In Hotel Sommarhagen, we live and act in cooperation with our surrounding nature. We see the work with sustainability as a natural part of our everyday life.

• The summer garden is located in the wilderness, in an area surrounded by forests and lakes where you can even drink the water directly from the lake!!
• We have our own well and our own sewage treatment so as not to pollute our lakes.
• We heat our hotel with environmentally friendly pellets from the forest.
• This is supplemented with air heat pumps and exhaust air heat pumps.
• In the glamping accommodation, solar cells are used for energy production.
• In 2023, we have built a solar park for additional environmentally friendly electricity production
  for the entire company.
• In connection with this, several electric car chargers have been erected, to make it easier for our guests to use/charge electric cars and thus reduce emissions.
• We take care of and sort our rubbish, as much as possible.
• We wash our own laundry and let it dry outside in the fresh air (without energy-wasting heating systems).
• Stay at least 2 nights, to save on the amount of laundry and reduce pollution.
• Worn bed linen/terry towels are reused in the kitchen/other parts of the business.
• We have signs in all bathrooms that inform our guests to only place the laundry they wish to be washed on the floor, in order to save the environment.

• Our food is prepared in our own kitchen, using local produce as far as possible - some even from our own garden.
• We do not use portion-packaged food (not even butter).
• We do not use single-use packaging - only reusable packaging.
• All guests pre-order their desired food, so that food waste is avoided. We only cook the food that is pre- ordered.
• Our guests come here to enjoy nature, wilderness, silence with hiking, biking, canoeing.
We have 250 km of our own hiking trails and 350 km of our own bike trails, which all start and end here at Sommarhagen. The car can be left in the car park during the entire stay.
• We only have one TV in the lounge - not in every room - to save electricity. (Free WiFi is available in all rooms if needed).
• We use environmentally friendly cleaning agents, as far as possible.
• Our lamps are low-energy lamps.
• We work actively to save the forest.
• We always inform our guests to be careful with the surrounding nature, not to leave any rubbish behind.
• We provide guests with garbage bags to simplify compliance.
• Our staff comes from several different countries.
• We work actively to also hire personnel who are further away from the labor market.
• We clearly inform that all staff, all tasks are equally important and that we work as a unified team - everyone is equally important.
• We cooperate with several local partners.
• We reinvest possibly surplus in the business for long-term financial sustainability.
